Kasbah
Balinese-inspired architecture, an open living-and-kitchen volume, and a large pool terrace facing the ocean. Two king bedrooms, each with its own private terrace.

Mal País · Nicoya Peninsula · Costa Rica
A gated hilltop estate with panoramic ocean and jungle views — macaws in the trees, monkeys in the valley, and restaurants five minutes down the mountain. Book the houses together for a team of up to twelve.
Secluded, not remote
Casa Kasbah sits on four acres of hilltop above Mal País, where the jungle-covered mountains meet the Pacific. There are no close neighbours. Scarlet macaws nest in the trees, howler monkeys move through the valley below, and a river runs through the jungle you can hear in the rainy season.
The breeze off the hilltop keeps the bugs down and the terraces comfortable. You watch the sun rise and set from the same property, all year long.
And yet you’re three minutes from the beach and five from the restaurants — a town of people from all over the world, which means the food is from all over the world too.

Together or separate
Rent the main villa, the guesthouse, or the whole estate. Groups take everything — five bedrooms, two kitchens, terraces on both houses, and no one else on the land.

Balinese-inspired architecture, an open living-and-kitchen volume, and a large pool terrace facing the ocean. Two king bedrooms, each with its own private terrace.

A separate two-bedroom house hanging over our own private jungle, with the river running below. Walls open straight into the trees, and the expansive terrace is the perfect place for an imagination session — or just watching the macaws circle.

Both houses, all four acres, exclusive use. Five bedrooms of king beds, pool, grass yard, terraces for working and eating outside, staff on site Monday to Saturday.

Where you'll be
A local town that still feels like authentic Costa Rica, sitting above the famed Reserva Cabo Blanco. Mal País has kept its pura vida culture while drawing people — and cooking — from every part of the world.
Down the mountain: Mar Azul’s quiet sand, the fishing village where you buy off the boat, the soccer pitch on the ocean. Turn the other way for Santa Teresa’s restaurants, surf and sunset gatherings.
The estate is reached by a private gated entrance; a 4x4 or AWD vehicle is required. The climb is what buys the view and the silence — and we can drive your group instead.
